Dubai hosts Airport Show 2025 amid aviation boom
Sheikh Ahmed tours pavilions, engages with tech leaders and innovators
DUBAI: The 24th edition of the Airport Show officially opened its doors at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), marking another milestone for the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia’s (MEASA) premier B2B aviation platform.
Under the patronage of Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports and Emirates Airline & Group, the event is set to run through May 8, 2025, attracting global aviation leaders and stakeholders.
Sheikh Ahmed inaugurated the event with a comprehensive tour of exhibitor pavilions, interacting with innovators and top aviation officials. The Show underscores Dubai’s ambition to stay at the forefront of the global aviation ecosystem and supports the region’s efforts to accommodate 1.1 billion passengers annually by 2040, up from 405 million in 2019.
Who’s attending?
More than 6,000 trade visitors from 30 countries are attending the event, which features 140 exhibitors from 22 nations. Over 150 buyers from 70 organisations are engaging in business and networking activities, focused on areas such as passenger experience, carbon-reduction strategies, airport traffic management, and Urban Air Mobility (UAM).
Organised by RX, a global event company managing over 350 exhibitions annually, the show is designed to cater to the US$1 trillion airport development market across MEASA. From digital solutions to sustainability innovations, the event acts as a bridge connecting suppliers with regional decision-makers amid a dramatic rise in infrastructure expansion projects.
The Middle East alone is projected to invest US$151 billion by 2040, driven by exponential passenger growth. According to ICAO and ACI World, global passenger traffic is forecasted to reach 9.9 billion in 2025, with 12 billion projected by 2030. The MEASA region is expected to handle a significant share of that growth.
What’s new this year?
In parallel with the exhibition, two high-level conferences are being hosted – the 12th Global Airport Leaders’ Forum (GALF) and the Women in Aviation Middle East Conference, featuring more than 30 sessions and over 70 speakers.
GALF features notable speakers such as Lt-Gen Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri of GDRFA, Abdulla Al Shamsi from Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects (DAEP), and Ahmad Ali Belqaizi from Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA). Topics centre on aviation safety, sustainability, digitisation, and regional cooperation.
The third day will spotlight the Women in Aviation Middle East Conference and Awards, recognising female contributions to the fast-evolving sector. Meanwhile, new zones such as the GSE Zone, Airport Tech Pavilion, and Airport Design Hub aim to amplify visitor experience and facilitate hands-on demonstrations of cutting-edge technologies.

Schneider Electric is showcasing solutions that elevate both operational efficiency and passenger satisfaction. “Our goal is to enable airports to scale with intelligent, secure, and resilient systems,” said Amel Chadli, President of Gulf Countries, Schneider Electric.
WAISL has introduced AEROWISE, its Digital Twin-powered Airport Predictive Operations Centre (APOC) aimed at enabling real-time, data-driven airport management. “Our focus is on operations transformation with a single goal – efficiency,” said Preetham Kamesh, Strategic Advisor at WAISL.
What’s driving regional growth?
Airport Show 2025 serves as a critical entry point for global players to tap into the MEASA aviation market – one of the fastest-growing aviation zones in the world. According to industry forecasts, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific will account for 58% of global air passenger demand by 2040. By 2050, nearly 66.7 million Baby Boomers in the region are expected to be regular flyers, pushing airport capacity and service demands further.
The MEASA region’s airports are under increasing pressure to adapt to growing needs for cargo handling, passenger services, and enhanced operational efficiency. This is reflected in the sharp rise in traffic – Middle Eastern airlines recorded a 9.4% year-on-year traffic increase in 2024, with load factors reaching 80.8 percent.
The Show is also strengthened by the participation of key authorities and entities, including Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Dubai Airports, Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects, Emirates Airline, dnata, and dans. Additional support comes from Dubai Police, the National Guard, and associations like the Supply Chain and Logistics Group (SCLG) and the Dubai Airline Operators Committee (DAOC).
The ATC Forum, backed by dans and Global Air Navigation Services (GANS), and the Airport Security Forum, supported by security stakeholders, further enhance the event’s scope and relevance.
